Van Dorn Drill Press?

Picked up an old drill press at an estate sale - a Van Dorn. Has anyone heard of this company? Just curious to know how old it is - still works fine.

I don't know if it's the same company, but Van Dorn Demag makes injection molding machines.

In 1919, the Van Dorn Electrical Co of Cleveland Oh. was making portable electric drills, by 1929 they were listing bench and heavy duty drilling machines.. An offshoot company Van Dorn & Dutton Co. specialised in the supply of gear, either from stock or to special order.

Tom - Thanks for the info. I discovered on this site that the Van Dorn was bought by Black & Decker in 1970. That means the drill is at least 30 years old, and to my eye, looks more like something from the

1940's or 50's. It is probably 40-50 years old. I spent most of Sunday using it and it works perfectly. There is just something great about old tools that still work well.
