fixeda Antique mantle clock

wife says, hey the antique mantle clock does not work... i look at it and tell her that it is not an antique, but i will look at it and see what i can do.... yes it is an antique.. my mother had it and got if from her mother years ago... oh well it has a double A battery in it to work the clockwork so i know its not an antique.. it looks like it was made in hong kong or taiwan or china, but it does look old and if you squint your eyes a little it can pass for an antique at about 12 ft. away... well i check it out and find that the clock module that is in it will not work, its not the battery.. so i go to the dollar store and pick up a clock attached to a plate that you hang on the wall for a dollar and take out the clock part and the plate with a hole in it goes into the garbage.... put the new parts back into this "antique clock" and put a new battery in it and its running fine... well what do you think of your antique clock now.. i got it to run.... pretty good heh??? "Well you are the one who broke it and my mother had that clock in her family for years." Wait, its not an antique and i did not break it, the thing just wore out, the clock part was probably only 50 cents when they made it and it wore out.. Ok, i got it to work and that's that... Well how did you fix it???? I ah, I ah, just cleaned it up a little and put some clean oil in it, thats seemed like the only problem... hope it works OK now...... just remind me to oil it every year or so and you will not have any more problems with your antique mantle clock... OK... (every year, new battery and new clock movement from the dollar store and this antique will run for years....)))))

I "fixed" the clock in the entrance way the same way and got all kinds of kudos untill someone said: "Hey, how come the hands are smaller now?" - The old hands wouldn't fit the new works.

What, no mention of how metals shrink when you wash them? You just gotta be quicker on your feet, Tom! :-)
