Hi Group I have some precision STEEL sheet metal parts that need to be made corrosion resistant. I have heard of a gold colored, conversion coating (non electroplated) finish that I thought was called Iridite. I can't seem to find anything on the web. I found Alodyne but its for aluminum. Anyone know what this process is called for steel? I would like to be able to set up a small line and do it myself if possible. Any help apprecaited.

I think the process was known as Yellow Chromate (Zinc Chromate) for steel. It was outlawed a couple years ago due to the chemicals involved.

Might be yellow chromate, a treatment for zinc plate on steel.
I'm not sure where you are, but I'm in the US and where I work we get parts in from the platers just about every day that are yellow zinc chromate plated. Todd
Iridite is a chromate treatment for aluminum, not for steel.
