My understanding is that the original Heller Bell System tacker (I have one which I have used successfully) uses "H" staples (galvanized for interior) or "J" staples (copper coated for exterior). These usually were available in packs of 1000 manufactured by Heller, Acme and sometimes Senco. These are smaller width than Arrow T18 staples. I have found that these staples sometimes come up on eBay and sometimes for a reasonable price. Years ago I was able to order these from Acme, but I doubt they have them now. The newer model Heller apparently will use Arrow T18 staples.
