HF one day sale

I have to confess, I drove 25 miles in the rain today to check out the Harbor Freight one day sale. I only bought one thing - their cheap roller infeed table for $12.97, marked down from the sale price of $17.97 but my buddy bought their infamous 4½" grinder for $10. It comes with a 30 day warranty.

The roller stand is a little cheesy but it works OK. I'm going to use it right away in front of the forge and horizontal bandsaw.

I didn't knopw they had the sidewalk sale today and I went there to get a cheap 3/4" drive socket set for my business partner. Bought a small

2HP compressor they had marked down to $45. Really didn't expect too much, however it works really well and is fairly quite. Also bought a brad nailer that was down to $15. Also works real well. The socket set got the lug nuts off of our Bobcat so I guess it paid for it self.

I bought their little 3" bench grinder for $30 ($10 off)--it works great for sharpening smaller tool bits, 1/8" and 3/16"...

It's varible speed from 1500 or so to 10K RPM--the flexible shaft extension works surprisingly well too, with dual ball-bearings at the collet end. The grinder motor also uses ball-bearings. The tool rest is crap and there was no spark shield at the top, just a cheesy plastic view shield (mine is also yellow with a black base)..

Looks like great minds think alike.

I had to go get a windshield replaced before my fix it ticket expired, and stopped in to get a bandsaw blade for my big cutoff saw (ran out of 3/4" stock damnit..sigh) and found the sale in full progress.

Ive been needing a decent hammer drill and saw that SDS one for $27. Oddly enough they couldnt find any and I was about to take the demo for the same price when one of the stockers found the pallet they were on. Im glad I waited..comes in a hardcase, with 4 bits, a converter chuck to allow regular drill bits and two chisels.

It looks almost identical to a Bosch Ive been borrowing for bolting machine tools down, so while Im not holding my breath..I figure this should be an ok replacement for the Hilti that was stolen in

2000..sigh. I did pay the $5.99 for the 18 month replacement warranty.

Need some more bandsaw stock..I hate the HF blades...

i was waiting for that sale to get the 4 1/2 in. angle grinder for $9.99 also.. i looked in the other hf catalogs and saw that they had one for $15.00 a few days before the sale and went there as i did not want to travel clear across town on friday morning to stand in line, etc. to save the $5.00... i looked at it and found that they had a 4 in. one for $15 and a 4 1/2 for $17.. so i got the $17.00 one.. dont know why, just figured that the $17.00 one will hold both the 4 in. and 4 1/2 wheels..... also bought a $2.95 set of 5 mini diamond coated cut off wheels to use in my dremel tool...... came home and tried them all out and it worked great...

Just found out over the weekend that a HF is opening up 5 minutes from my house, beats the hour plus travel time to the one that used to be the nearest! Now maybe I can attend some of those scratch and dent sales they are famous for!

Now all you need is a recycling center 5 minutes away so you'll have a place to haul all those broken tools (:
