No, but the war between the states was about a little more than JUST slavery. Tarriffs, states rights, and minority rights were all part of the cause of the war - Slavery was a contributor.

I have 25 or more units around the house and in cars and trucks.

You could get a used one for a buck, clean and paint it, get it Hydrotested and Refilled for far less than the cost of a new extinguisher - BUT...

But Amerex passed their 'Income Protection Act' amendments to NFPA and got all Dry Chemical extinguishers made before (IIRC October 1978?) declared Obsolete because that's when they changed the labeling requirements. Throw it out and get a new one.

And they've made it illegal to refill and certify any "Orphan" extinguishers where you can't get Factory powder and O-rings to recharge them, because the factory is out of business.

And to profit off it, Amerex bought General out of BK so they could shut down the business and sell a bunch of new units when they all dated out.

Same thing with older Charged Water units and old Carbon Dioxide.

Decorative Purposes Only.

Don't use those up unless it's Outside and you've got a lot of room to stay Upwind. Same with the old brass Pyrene and Fyr-Fyter units. Carbon Tetrachloride is now labeled Nasty Bad Stuff.
