Well, some time ago the bolt for my Glenfield/Marlin Model 25 .22 LR was stolen and I've been looking ever since for a replacement. Finally I bought a bolt for a Model 20, which the seller believed was the same. It arrived yesterday and unfortunately, doesn't fit. The little spring clip which grabs the base of the bullet casing has a little tang that the Model
25 bolt doesn't, and even when I take the clip off, it doesn't quite close. Looks like the bolt is a couple of hundredths too long. Drat.Does anyone know if the Model 20 bolt is supposed to fit the Model 25? Maybe my gun needs to be cleaned really, really well to make the bolt fit? It doesn't look like it, but maybe there's lead buildup at the base of the barrel? Or maybe the Model 20 just doesn't fit?
Does anyone know if there is a bolt from a different Marlin rifle which is the same (except for the Model 20, of course)?
