That's because you don't believe and will not be carried to Heaven during the "Rapture". I've listened to some of these people talk and it's amazing to me that they have no plans after the upcoming date with destiny. They are all completely positive that the end of the world will bwgin witha huge earthquake which will just be the precursor to more disasters. And they will all, along with a limited number of other believers, be up in heaven while the earth goes through all sorts of trials and tribulations. ERS

How much drinking water do you have? One issue with the Big One in Socal will be how many die of thirst over the following week+

Probably other parts of the country as well. It is a long way to walk to the river carrying water jugs - and twice as far walking back with full jugs. (I used to be "the water boy" and learned all about how heavy water gets when you are carrying it.)

Is that where they get deuterium? Just put the factory two or three miles from the well, and when the carrier gets back, you have heavy water?

I'm ready, cleared the leaves etc from around the house and took 'before' photos of the foundation cracks.

Ah ... yeah. Only more like a hundred yards will do. Yeah, a hundred yards, that sounds about right. Especially w/o a Little Red Wagon.

You need a hydraulic ram - plans to make your own are on the 'net.

And you need to make a hydraulic ram now. And install it, now. So that it is in place with the bugs worked out when you need it.

It does help if you do have access/right of way to the water source. (I could probably put in a hydraulic ram, but I'd have to cross at least one road and several property lines to do so.)

You need a kid to haul it for you - pix of how to make one are also on the 'net.

All of which is nitpicking. SoCal gets a lot of press for being moments away from The Big One which will cut water distribution and make everybody die of thirst. But they are not alone. The Power goes out, even soggy Seattle will have troubles getting drinking water to everyone.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for the gov't to run a pipeline from the Miss. River to CA and create a bigass reservoir in the desert, then pump the overflow to other rivers and the reservoir when she gets grumpy every year?

I know the Gulf of California would benefit. I guess the farmers all along the Colorado could benefit, in NV, CA, AZ, and Mexico.

Then there wouldn't be all that flooding of perfectly good farmland and perfectly improperly placed cities along the Miss.

Think of all the unemployment that would solve, too.

Speaking of which, this just in via email: (I think I posted this to the Wreck yesterday, but not here.)

I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 10-year-old granddaughter and I asked her, "What day is tomorrow?"

She said "It's President's Day!"

She is a smart kid.

I asked "What does President's Day mean?" I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln ... etc.

She replied, "President's Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment."

You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose...
