By hiring a certified and insured / bonded inspection company. If a weld requires testing you do *not* want to do a half assed job of it and get the remaining half of your ass in a sling when the weld fails and someone is killed.

HR,

The methods are Magnetic Particle Examination, Dye Penetrant Examination, Ultrasonic Examination, and Radiographic Examination.

Which one applies?

MPE is used for surfase and close sub-surface examination of magnetic steels. DPE is used for every thing else, but can only disclose surface indications. UE and RE are used to examine the innards of the metal.

DPE consumables are readily available and could be used by a DIY-er. This is not a difficult process to get good at but it does require care and cleanliness.

BTW, whose life/safety is on the line?
