The TSA can't mess with Texas or its airport travelers anymore. Texas legislature has banned unreasonable pat down procedures on airlines and in airports and moved to criminalize invasive pat downs by TSA employees

The Texas House ruled yesterday and passed into law new rules that overall ban pat downs. Proponents of the bill say the new rules are designed to prohibit indecent, groping searches. The Texas measure may be overturned by Federal law because states have no authority of the federal government, but travelers have long argued that the x-ray scanners and taking off shoes at security checkpoints are more than enough and the pat downs are an excessive invasion of privacy. The pat down procedures were wildly opposed by especially by frequent travelers, but none of the complaining has effectively resulted in regulation change. . . . Texas is one of the more conservative states in the nation with a strong and unyielding tendency to preserve and promote independence of its citizens and voters. However, Texas is far removed geographically from the trials of 9/11 that occurred on the Atlantic Seaboard where there is less space and land, and an overwhelming number of people who can easily blend in and commit heinous acts without necessarily being seen or noticed by others until it is too late.
