Nice project (albeit sans metal content - probably used metal tools, though), fine work and a truly ingenious solution to the drive system.
However, if I were a tree hugger, I'd likely be having a fit over the trees that were wantonly slaughtered to allow a mere human to have fun.

Whoa - that is amazing! All those pieces in the chain: each link has 2 plates, a roller, a pin through the roller, and 2 smaller pins to hold it! Times, what? - 60 links. Bob

I'm aware of those. They also used to race motorcycles w/o brakes on a similar flat circular track. However the builder of this bicycle stated he wanted the ratchet mechanism to enable coasting down hill. Time will tell if he has an encounter with Darwin. Art
