Can you buy and install child seat anchors that attach to the ceiling in front of the hatch hinge? I added them to the hidden attachment holes in my CRV to increase the cargo restraint options.

Just get an ultralite scooter - loke SuperHandy - that folds easily and weighd 35 lbs. Or an ATTO Travel scooter = breaks down into 2 parts - 62 lbs total so aboiut 30 each part.

At Segway the bins for out-of-spec components were next to Engineering and they were encouraged to use them to try new ideas like that. All I've done is make off-pavement trailers from equipment not meant for it, like a shop crane.

After multiple back and neck surgeries my wife's X-Rays make her look like a cyborg. She isn't supposed to lift anything more then ten pounds. She does but she isn't supposed to.

If the Hyundai does have concealed tapped holes for rear child seat anchors in the ceiling the hoist attachment may become simpler and less intrusive.

If there's room for the cart front to back instead of across, this might might work for removal: deploy outside ramp; lift front wheel onto hatch lip or top edge of outside ramp; roll back wheels up inside ramps and roll cart down outside ramp, using an electric winch like [1] for control, or using a block and tackle. Inside the car, the front wheel would sit between the ramps for the back wheels.

------------------------ An issue with that is the scooters' extremely low ground clearance and not necessarily smooth bottom that might damage the trunk/hatch water seal. A floor or door mat could help if you have an extra one to risk and remember to place it on the lip. I can ride my scooter on the packed gravel in a tire or foot path but it grounds and out bogs down on the looser shoulders. They definitely aren't electric ATVs, a Segway is better for that, I consider a dirt bike best. The Segway factory in NH is on the crest of a steep river bank above train tracks and a challenging footpath.

Another, at least on mine, is that there isn't a 'proper' way to lift one rear wheel to slide something under it. The manual specifically warns against lifting by the thin shell or a wheel. It's the centered handle or nothing.

I don't have a hoist answer within the stated 10 pound lifting limit, perhaps a fold-up (for parking) hitch carrier?? An example, not a suggestion:

Bob installs it at home, the XYL[*] drives on and off and may need help only to fold it up for parking.

Based on my scooter I think a person who couldn't lift weight when bent down due to knee or back problems might manage by winching it up a ramp and separating or connecting the parts while standing. The problem then is finding a light enough set of folding ramps.

There's several versions of mini-cranes purposely made for this... but they're usually pictured in a taller hatchback than the Veloster. It appears to have a rather cramped area where they attach the cranes...

The clearances are rather tight, and of course it all depends on the exact cart chosen. The Veloster like many small vehicles is not really intended to have a hitch, but I believe there may be some hitch options for it.

I actually have a 12V crane type lift that was given to me by my friend who used to be in the electric mobility business. My plan was to use it for heavy vises and rotary tables in the shop in conjunction with a "tool" cart with the heavier of those items store on top.
