And the HH rod and piston would fit the H, and vice-versa IIRC.

I am being told that there was two different rods for my engine model number and I need th emore expensive one. Can anyone verify if that is true?

Can I use RTV instead of buying the gasket kit?

Use a cheerios box and some aluminum paint. It'll work better than RTV.

Some high-temp RTV works perfectly well, so long as your bead is steady and covers the entire surface. I run an OLD H60 on my log splitter, rebuilt it a couple times now. Honed some fresh cross-hatch, new piston rings, new co nnecting rod, acid bath to remove aluminum from the crankshaft, and I'm run ning Royal Purple full synthetic 10w-30 to keep it going strong for years t o come. I've also used the RTV as the crank case gasket every time I put it back together, never had a leak and she runs great. I even sealed the crac k in the block from the rod my great-grandfather threw when it was still hi s with the high-temp. As long as you clean the surface well with soap and w ater to remove the oil, the stuff works great.

Check the crank endplay first, without the gasket. It may bind.
