Tool Gloat

In the spirit in which it was intended... You Suck.

My latest tool gloat is nowhere near that cool. I decided I wanted a second Badlands 12000lb winch to use as my hitch/plate mounted utility winch instead of the 8000lb Warn I've been abusing the last few months. I haven't looked at the Warn since, but during my "rescue" mission a week or three ago it started to cut out spooling in the cable.

For Father's Day weekend HF had a $50 off coupon for the winch I wanted. They also had a 10% off any single item coupon. A few days prior I had looked at a couple roll away tool boxes to use as tool carts for the manual mill and lathe in the back shop, but the shipping was pretty high (nearly $200 maybe). Even logged in with my Inside Track Membership. When I went back to add the winch and coupons to my shopping cart it applied both coupons and gave me shipping of less than ten bucks. I was pretty stoked about getting a thousand bucks worth of stuff for just a thousand bucks AND getting it delivered cheaper than I could go get it.

Then YOU had to come along with a better deal, make me all jealous, and take all the wind out of my sales. Seriously, congratulations on what sounds like a great score.

Thank you sir . This thing is going to take some serious cleaning up , it's been in a shed for I believe the guy said 50 years ... since his Granddaddy passed anyway . But knowing that the motors all run is a major thing . Did I mention that I also scored a 15" Lodge cast iron skillet for 15 bucks ? In great shape too , no rust at all .

Spotted these cut down cast iron pieces at an Old Timey event last year that had a Flea Market too. Hadn't seen this done before. Not sure what you'd use them for, I don't cook much anymore...

Chuckle , yeah , I know . I've had extraordinary luck at yard sales recently . My wife has commented on that , repeatedly and at great length . Hey , yard salin' was her idea , can I help it if I keep finding great bargains for stuff I can use ... and have the cash in my pocket ?

SCORE ! We hit a few yard sales today and I'm pumped . My best score in some time , today I bought a Sioux valve seat grinder with the stone dresser plus the valve face grinder . .. Snag It's great to be straight !

I've been helping move large stuff from an estate in my 7 foot bed truck and acquired a stairlift for free, they are over $1000 to install new. I previously helped install a few.

Jeez, why would anybody do that? I use cast iron cookware all the time. Spinach/gruyere frittata perking in an iron pot as I write. I never saw that done before either.

My first thought was cast iron spatula. Maybe they made something out of damaged cookware.

Just for the heck of it I just did a web search for cast iron spatula and found they sell such things on eBay and Etsy.

---------------------------------- Perhaps they were someone's experiment for cooking high volume items too delicate to shove a spatula under in a limited space, like a lunch wagon. Fried eggs 'over easy' aren't pretty after I've tried to flip them.

Same here, but only if I miss catching them with the pan...

I use a small non-stick pan and do the slid and flip in the air method. I usually don't miss, but I do flip them over the sink. LOL.
