Centering a ring

I've got a stainless steel ring, about 2mm thick, O/D 100mm, I/D 50mm (approx). I'd like to increase the inner diameter by about 4mm or so (not a precision job). If I can't get my chuck wide enough to hold the ring, how would I mount it centrally on a faceplate?

Screw a block of hardwood onto the face plate, bore out to sink the

100 mm OD into the wood about 1.5 mm deep they secure the ring to the wood with screws and washers at the edge to grip. Then bore the ID and not have to worry about hitting anything with the tool as the wood is sacrificial.

Terrific, thanks. The ring has got some fixing holes in it already so should be easy to secure. It's a surround for a steering wheel, if anyone is interested...
