I tried to do some work today on the Harrison mill, decided I needed to fit the vertical head, I did and found it was duff with very little drive to the spindle.
Anyway replaced the sheared key in the input shaft and back in business. The whole thing took up the few hours I had of time in there, so task not done and will have to wait for another day.
It did get me thinking on fiting a drive unit to the X table travel, has anyone fitted one of the aftermarket units to one of these mills.
Mine is a basic manual model with the plain table so it would need modifying to take any such accessory and not really sure if the machine would warrant the effort. Not calling the machine as it can handle all the stuff I need to do on it, but as I am not into any production work, but every now and then having the possibility of start and stop traverse and variable reed rates would be the iceing on the cake.
