OT 2012 Olympic Logo...

Just seen this psychedelic mayhem, what's the reaction over there? A couple of minutes of that and I'd have to go lie down! :-(

Funny you should say that Tom, I've just heard on the news that they have had to remove an animation from the web site as it may trigger an epileptic fit. The genereal response has been negative, to put it mildly.

Never mind epileptic fits, what about the fits caused by the horrendous tastlessness of the logo. I reckon we need a simple image of a London icon like Tower Bridge with a pole vaulter jumping over it.

think the white is supposed to be part of the logo, but then the press release has that as yellow and lots of different main colours

doubt someone has taken a big fat pay check for that crap :(

£400k was the figure I heard on the news this morning.

That's good. Cut the logo out of sheet metal and beat the designer with it until he repents! :-)

Glad I won't have to see it everywhere!

Thee BBC news site has already got a lot of alternative logos on display:

If the official logo is worth £400,000 the the one that uses 2012 t

spell out Lon in London must be worth £4 million. I dont know wh designed it but very good graphic design, give him the money. If the had held a competition for a logo the official one would not have bee considered. MB

There have been some pretty bad Olympic logos over the years. That one is bloody horrible! I will have to find out what my relatives in darkest Suffolk think of it!

Your welcome

What is even more annoying is that SOMEONE thinks that is worth the best part of half a million pounds! No wonder the Olympics cost so much to put on :( That money could have been put to much better use, but now they are trying to justify it by suggesting that organising a contest to produce it would have cost MORE. I know people complain about 'open source', but sharing and cooperation should be the norm these days - not ripping the customer off for as much as you think you can con out of them :(

Typical Wolf Olins graphic design ripoff.. In the early 1990's BP paid him £250K to come up with a new logo, which turned out to be the same one they had in the 60's. I think the ony change was a sighty different serif on the letters.

Do not forget how much will be spent trying to convince you that is was worth it.

Why the 5 rings in a W pattern, London 2008 and a back ground of something pleasant isn't enough escapes me. It is supposed to be about the athletes isn't it?

The first one is excellent.
