Surface grinder and auto lathes

Mar 15, 2007 8 Replies

I have been asked to remove a surface grinder from a local company. It is not a Jones and shipman, and there is no magnetic vice. The machine is apparently in working order, it is larger than a J&S 540, and until Friday, I do not have the makers name or model, or any photo's.

This is offered for free to anyone who can arrange transport, as my "Man" will only do local stuff (North London). There is a gantry I recall at the company, and possibly my man could lift it with his HIAB onto something. I would expect the weight to be around 1 ton. All costs would be down to the person taking the item. If there is no interest, it will be scrapped.

On a secondary note. I have also been offered 2 Accrutool auto lathes from another company. Anyone interested can contact me and I will give you the seller's number so you can deal direct. Bob

Due to the overwhelming response--- zilch !!! I have put the grinder on ebay Bob

No more room for machinery here LOL..

Never seen an Accrutool, another pegboard machine?

I'll probably never go down that route again, though sometimes I do think about it. The Ethermatic I ran once (now a CNC) almost drove me nuts!

Wayne....

Yes, they are pegboards, sort of predecessors to the EMIMEC, turret rotates in the opposite way though, and equally capable of putting the owner in a madhouse!!!

I am also full to the brim with machinery. The grinder is better than originally thought and it seems a shame to scrap it. I have a 540 so dont need it. Maker is Fritz Studer. Bob

My Ethermatic (Pye-Ether) was built in 1969 and was built around a new Hardinge HCT. I still have the control for it, I kept it as it's a beautiful piece if work.

I have a Studer! A Studer OB Cylindrical grinder. Been running it all day in fact, lovely machine. Can hold ridiculous limits.

Wayne....

There, you could have got a mate for it !!!! Yes, they are nice machines, but for the little I use on a grinder, my 540 is smaller and good enough. (I replied about the CNC boards, let me know the postage)

Shares the same Door as the OB!

Got your email, will have to weigh the PSU.

There were a couple of Sprints thrown out of a local company recently, I was offered them to take away, but declined!

Wayne....

You did right!!! I still have 1", and 2" one Bob
