Can anyone shed any light on the meaning of 'dwang' in the context of cutting threads. This came up in conversation at work today and it's a new word to me. Googling suggests a Scottish name for a noggin in a stud wall but no engineering references I could find.

It`s also a Scottish word for a tapwrench,amongst other things. regards,Mark.

I thought it was the noise of a snapping tooltip when you get a dig-in.
I thought that was the noise a chuck key made as it accelerated out on start-up of the lathe.........
