2-D X-section thru solids and quilts?

Hi to all,

I'm using Pro/E 2001, and I'm trying to create a 2-D cross-section of an assembly through my solid Pro/E file and some imported surface IGES files that my part goes around.

When I cut a cross-section in my assembly, I have the option to cut through the model and quilts, where the section through the surfaces is outlined in yellow but not cross-hatched, which is OK. In the assembly, I can view these outlines of these surfaces.

However, when I try to place these views in a 2-D drawing, the cross-section seems to remove the quilts and the cross-section outline. It only shows the solid part cross-hatched.

I'm trying not to have to turn these IGES files into solids to get this to work.

Is there any way to display these cross-sections through the quilted surfaces in 2-D drawing mode? Do I have to switch to Wildfire to get this to work?

Thanks for any replies.

I may be wrong, but I believe that (this is applicable to WF) they will only show in area cross sections.

I don't think you can display crosshatching for quilted surfaces. The quilted surface is hollow, it has no thickness.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and replies.

FYI, I ended up spending the time stitching up the IGES files and turning them into solids so that the 2-D sections looked right.

I don't know if it has been said, but maybe the best work-around is to create a curve at the intersection of the surface and the x-section plane, and display this curve in the x-section.
