If this is old news to this group, I apologize!

I saw this while doing other research, and think the group would enjoy it!

--That's a monster! Heard from a pal last weekend that he's built a vehicle that tips the scales at a little under two grams, with video downlink, heh.

Does anyone know how to obtain the ultrasonic piezo motors Epson used for the rotor drive?

--Hey this is interesting; reminds me a little of a harmonic drive; i.e. sort of a planetary gear setup, but the outer gear is a flexible ring. The result is extreme speed reduction but very high efficiency. But at ultrasonic frequencies the resultant rpm would still be respectable, yes? --The hack I had in mind originally was to take the little 'tuning fork' assemblies out of watches and to use them directly to drive the wings of an ornithopter; no reason why this wouldn't work and it makes for a *very* small flying machine..
