laser guide robot

hi all I want to guide my robot underground whit a laser for a long distance. where I can find information in order to study this type of problems. There are books, or link for me ? Any input/suggestions are appreciated.

Unless it is an unusually powerful laser, I don't think it will penetrate very far underground.

Do you want to tell us some more about your robot (size, capabilities, sensors, drive...) and what you want to do with it?

hi peters I still do not know its characteristics for the moment but I know that it must make tunnel underground but, now,I am thinking to guide it with a laser sorry for my english

OK, a tunneling robot. That's a pretty tough challenge. You need to think about what sort of material it is going to be working in, how big the tunnel is to be (diameter/length), how you are going to provide the robot with power, how to stop the tunnel collapsing behind it (otherwise, whatever guidance you decide on, your robot won't be able to see the guidance beam), how to actually steer the robot in both vertical and horizontal planes. Can you tell us some more about the rules of the challenge?.
