More Visual Recognition and the SIFT algorithm

Ok. I guess I generated enough excitment as I have gotten enough email asking for more info.

First, I would recommend getting on the HomeBrewed Robotics Club mailing list. You can sign up at

The slides from the presentation should eventually show up there as well.

You can see archived messages of the HBRC at

Pictures from that night's meeting showing the SIFT algorithm presentation are at

The top left picture shows Ingolf demonstrating his computer with webcam recognizing objects. The next 7 pictures show him giving his portion of the lecture. He wrote a Visual Basic program that takes you step-by-step through the algorithm. I seem to remember that he would be willing to distribute what he has done to others to see. I would get on the mailing list and see if that is true if you are interested. They are not done with the project (building a full implimentation into a hardware camera for around $50) yet and they were asking for volunteers to help. If you are interested, let them know on the HBRC mailing list.

In the next 5 pictures Brandon shows off his implimentation done in the FPGA. While you can't make it out well on the screen, it is the HBRC group being shown in real time at 60 FPS.

The rest of the pictures show other presenters and club members showing their latest creations.

Hope you enjoy.
