Cold Cathode Lights (as used in case modding) aren't very expensive anymore. Come complete with their inverter an everything, just hook up 12VDC and ready. They've got also fans with leds in them, pretty neat in the dark.

One of the guys in our club is working on a new line following robot. It has oversize chrome wheels with low profile tires. His linear line sensor needed more light, so he is adding a section of "light wire" to the bottom of the robot.

I think it is going to look just like the modded Hondas the local homeboys drive (except the rims do not keep spinning after the robot stops). I wonder if his robot will have to slow down around corners to keep from bottoming out.

You should go with a PIC microcontroller instead of the OOpic.

PIC microcontroller are way faster then the OOpic and also have more memory and way cheaper.
