when to wire a stepper motor as Unipolar or Bipolar ?

Hello again. Assuming a stepper motor can be wired either way, what are typical reasons for wiring a stepper motor as Unipolar or Bipolar ? Thanks !

unipolar: easier to drive because you only need 4 low side switches

bipolar: more powerful because there are more windings powered at a time

chris

lower power consumption

twice the power consumption of unipolar.
