How to Get BATFE Records on AeroTech/ISP

HOW TO GET BUREAU OF ALCOHOL TOBACCO, FIREARMS & EXPLOSIVES RECORDS ON AEROTECH / ISP - INDUSTRIAL SOLID PROPULSION

by Michael Ravnitzky , snipped-for-privacy@mindspring.com

You can get a set of records on the following subjects from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives [BATFE], simply by sending a letter of request to the address listed below:

1) a copy of all ATF-issued licenses or permits held or formerly held by AeroTech Inc. and Industrial Solid Propulsion Inc. (ISP)

2) all applications or renewal forms AeroTech and ISP have submitted for these licenses or permits;

3) all ATF inspection records concerning AeroTech and ISP including any notes, records, citations, sanctions or other reports of any kind generated by an ATF inspection of AeroTech or ISP facilities;

4) all correspondence between AeroTech and the ATF;

5) all correspondence between ISP and the ATF;

6) the contents of any ATF files concerning AeroTech or ISP

In your note, you should mention the Freedom of Information Act, and you should agree to pay up to $25 if required for your request. However, please note that there will be no charge for your request (IT WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE) since you are entitled to the first 100 pages at no charge, and the agency has about 120 pages of material in all, not enough to send you a bill according to their procedures. But you are nevertheless required to agree to pay up to $25 as a bureaucratic formality.

Your letter can ask the agency to review the materials carefully to see if any of the redacted parts of the pages can be released.

Here is the address to which to write:

Dorothy Chambers FOIA/PA Officer Chief, Disclosure Division Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Department of Justice Washington, DC 20226 (202) 927-8480

Ok, not sure why, but ok. Will they release information on 'rocket propellant used in criminal explosive activities the same way?

That's what I want to know. Maybe they can release all of their records of the "bad" uses of APCP

Why would you or anyone else want to do this?

I would be more afraid if someone got it and set up web pages on it. I find a certain amount of privacy to be a good thing. Even if it is so-called "public" information that is simply hard to find.

Do his instructions work?

Sounds like a worthy goal to me.
