1:72 PE MG barrel jackets

Any tips on how to roll perforated cooling jackets for 1:72 machine guns into tubes? I'm working with the Eduard set for the SB2C's rear .30s, but there are many similar.

Try heating them over an open flame carefully, then roll them around long sewing needle.

Take a couple of pieces of bicycle innertube and attach that to a solid base. Roll the PE against the innertube with a piece of music wire, needle or something. The innertube will allow you to have a good bend to it. Hide the inevitable seam on the underside.

Good luck; that's hard to do in 1/72. Bit easier in 1/48.

Thanks Stephen, I see the logic of this advice, and will gird my loins for a try!

Thanks Hawkeye, I had forgotten about heating the stuff. I'll try that.
