p-400 was the export version with a 20mm gun in the nose. I don't recall what other mods there were to it.

ISTR it was the version produced for export, but in a (Martin Caidin?) book I read one of the pilots joked it was a P-40 with a Zero on its tail... ;-)
It was the export version, with Britt camo and serial #'s....many were put together from shipping boxes in SWPA and flown alongside the P-39's....By the 40th FS....check the 40th web site, Carlos Danacher, if he is still with us, has written a small book about those frantic days....cc
