Edmund Fitzgerald Kit????

The Walthers HO Train catalog had a 1/87 one listed a few years back. It wasn't cheap, and at that scale I think it was 6-7 feet long. I think it was ABS and resin with metal details.

Yeah, last I looked Walthers listed the "Edmund Fitzgerald" as a special order. Not sure if it was due to the complexity of the kit (resin) or the fact it cost $699.95.

Resin Unlimited makes a kit in 1/87 (HO scale). Yes, it is FINALLY available...
I believe a Great Lakes site offers a Fitz kit, but I am not sure what scale it is in - my guess would be 1/400 - 1/600 range.

Cool review. Looks like a great replica. Is resin the same as plastic? Same glues? Paints?
You'll need a "superglue" and I used Testors enamels. I don't recommend it as a first time resin kit.
Walthers, the train people, make an ore boat in HO and have an additional center section available to make it look like the Fitz. Let me see, 1/87th of 729 feet is 8' 4 1/2 ". That should be big enough!
