Eduard etch on Italeri 1/48 Eurofighter -- cockpit fit question...

Can anybody who's used the Eduard etch on the Italeri Eurofighter give me any hints on how the coaming, instrument panel and tub all fit together? It seems to me, after several attempts at dry fitting, that the whole assembly is too tall.

Eduard would have you boost the height of the pedestal that the stick sits on by a couple of millimetres (at most) using some folded etch -- I did it with plastic card, but I took great care to make it the same thickness as the folded etch.

Now, as far as I can see, if the central switch panel of the control panel rests atop the pedestal, as it should, there's no possibility that the corners can make contact with the angled panels on the side consoles. And if it sits where it wants to, then either the coaming doesn't reach the fuselage upper decking, or the tub must be installed lower in the fuselage, below the moulded ledges on the fuselage sides.

I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to have the pedestal off, and shorten it back to where it was originally -- or even more.

Is I just me? Is there a cunning trick that I'm missing?

Best regards, Matt
