It's probably just a coincedence, but yesterday the "new" Herbie was mentioned in the news and today our Disney stock dipped a bit.

Did the original kit use a Disney logo? Who produced it.

As I recall, Revell made a kit. I remember this because the Kresge (at least I *think* it was a Kresge) department store in downtown Cleveland had one that I oh-so-badly wanted, but at $2.99± it was beyond my no-allowance budget.

Wow, there's a name I almost forgot; Kresge! I don't remember much beyond that; were they a department store or a five and dime?

It's a fabric sunroof. Many original bugs had them, including Herbie allthough I seem to recall that it was much closer to the body colour.

Sort of a five & dime although nothing was that cheap. They hung aound here for a year or so after the Kmart opened a mile away. Same company, same merchandise, mostly. When I worked for Joe the Motorist's Friend in the mid-'60s they were the place to go for lunch because they were cheap. We had a drugstore with a luncheonette closer but they were more expensive. When you were pulling in $1.44 an hour you went to Kresge's. Also they were two doors down from the hobby shop. :)

I got the kit right when it came out and its pretty neat, except the stickers. Someone sells aftermarket decals on ebay for it in several scales. Canvas sunroof is correct. I seem to remember it as grey.

so the stickers don't stick or just that they are stickers and not decals. now to find who makes decals for it......

Paper stickers. Not convincing at all and not going on mine. The guy I mentioned who sells them on ebay always has them for sale there in several scales. Search for Love Bug decals.
