Ok I read the post ,she needs educating .

Unfortunately even here in Australia the education system is more bent towards the left, and it's more important to teach crap than reality . Australian history is not taught in schools these days because of the aboriginal situation ,(Australia was invaded not discovered according to some.) It seems more appropriate to teach our kids that we are invaders and foreigners in our own country, like we are on a guilt trip .

Fortunately our Govt has become aware of the situation and is taking steps to remedy the lack of education in Australian history . Hopefully it will go back to like it was , we would salute our flag and sing the national anthem every morning .They will learn how our forefathers discovered our country and colonized it and struggled to develop it to what we have today. Hopefully they will learn the true facts of those who fought and died to keep our country safe from the clutches of those who would take our country and freedom from us.

One thing ,though ,Anzac Day & Remembrance Day has always been well supported by the schools , most Aussie kids know about the past conflicts and the Anzac Spirit.

I guess Jill Edwards will learn from this experience, which is not a bad thing. What she said though chills me to the core.

Well, I sort of have to weigh in here. The sad thing is they aren't stupid, they are... I guess I would say "inexperienced". It is all too easy to sit in a comfortable academic environment isolated from the real world and read a lot of books and you are called educated. Problem is this is not the real world. Read Jacques Barzun's essay "The Ivory Tower" for a better explanation. This situation also helps explain the strange phenomenon of the "Rich Boy socialists" like Kerry and Kennedy et al. They have grown up in their little sheltered world surrounded by yes men and educated by socialist professors who cow towed to them and told them they were the World's next generation of leaders and they had an obligation to prove their innate superiority by following a certain course of thought and action. My Mother used to tell me about what transpired on her first day of work after she graduated from high school. As she was going out the front door on the way to her first day of work my Grandfather stopped her and said "Daughter, now your real education begins"! I think it was Churchill who said "If you are not a socialist at 20, you have no heart. If you are still a socialist at 40, you have no brain".

Soapbox mode off!
