Was Wiesbaden Germany directly involved during the war, either with bombing raids, assaults in general, etc? My mother was born and raised there, and her childhood during the war appears to be a very touchy subject. Her right arm is disfigured, and all she'll say was that "it happened when I was a child". Nor will she talk about my grandfather relative to his military service. That particular subject came to mind again the other day when I was reading a post here about Erich Hartmann and Adolf Galland and their love of cigars. I thought it was a bit funny, and that it must be a "thing" with German officers--I rememer seeing a picture of my grandfather with a few of his friends, and all had a cigar in their hand.
