How to build a resin Nose

I'm working on a Bv 222 tail correction for the R-G kit--my first attempt at replicating something in resin (though someone else will cast it for me). The first, most obvious and toughest part is to create the master. I'm working off plans I trust to the right scale, using primarily styrene for the master material, and just carving or sanding away anything that doesn't look like 'the elephant.' For a nose or a whole fuselage, fine-grained wood might be preferable. You want to avoid major re-entrant sections, which will dictate your part breakdown for the master. In the case of the BV 222, this means the slot leading edges have to be separate parts from the rest of the tail. I'm also going to polish out the master as if I was prepping for a natural metal finish to minimize surface flaws.

Someone else can comment on the nitty-gritty of doing the mold and the resin.
