ICM MiG 29 '9-13'

Has anyone had a look at this kit? Is it an updated Italeri kit or is it a re-issue of the horrible eastern express kit? cheers Gary W

I haven't seen it, but I think it's a reissue of the Condor kit (such as their MiG-31). If so, it isn't bad in shape and it's indeed a "Fulcrum-C" (the Italeri kit being an earlier Fulcrum-A), but lacks detail and many smaller parts (missile rails, canopy etc.) are on the thick side.

If you want to model a Fulcrum-C then you can take the spine from this kit and fit it to the Italeri kit or build-up a new spine on the Italeri kit with milliput. The latter option is long and boring but not so difficult with a good set of drawings: the spine just needs to be slightly wider and convex instead of slightly concave. The Italeri kits is so cheap that this kind of conversion is affordable.

Btw there also some other subtle differences between the Fulcrum-C and Fulcrum-A: the lack of blisters on the sides of the fuselage spine, modified wingtips and different weapons (the Fulcrum-C can carry the R-77 and external tanks on the inner wing hardpoints, while only some modified Fulcrum-As can carry them)

Should you be interested, the Bilek kit is instead a reissue of the Italeri kit with a small set of photoetched parts (rear view mirrors and so on) and different decals, while the Tamiya Fulcrum is a reboxing of the Italeri kit for the japanese market.
