ICM Spitfire MK9

Has anybody ordered parts from ICM. My Spit has sinkholes in the wheels and prop blades and want to order them from ICM.

I have 5-6 ICM Spitfires (different marks). All have sinkholes in wheels and propeller blades. So I don't know what is there to order from ICM. Another set of propeller blades with sinkholes? My suggestion is to buy great sets for ICM spitfires from Ultracast. They have wide range of accessories. Propeller blades, wheels, spinner (also wrong on ICM kit), wing bulges, etc. You name it, they have it!

BTW ICM has a lot of foults, but is still the best Mk. VIII, IX Spitfire kit on the market.

Speaking of resin parts; someone did lengthened resin fuselage halves for the Hasegawa Mk-VIII and IX Spits but I can't remember now who it was. Can someone help?

Try loon models. It is a product line of Rollmodels.com

I picked one up at the IMPS Nationals, very nice job of casting.

Not connected to Loon Models or Roll Models etc etc

Bill,

I believe it is Loon Models but I don't know their web address. Try the RED ROO Models site

Bill,

There's an interesting (well, interesting if you're into Spitfire model kit lengths!) article which covers this very well.

FWIW The Hasegawa Spitfire 9 is summed up by an acquaintance as a 1/48 scale wing with a 1/50 scale fuselage. Since they seem to have gotten the Mk.5 so right, how did they get the Mk.9 so wrong??

I've seen the resin add-ons to correct it, and the cut-up Spits with plastic plugs to make it right. Unless you've got a case of Hasegawa Spits in the garage, this is ridiculous--you do that for a Merlin Salmson, not a plane that's been kitted accurately by ICM for $5 less.

I agree. Beside, Hasegawa spinner is to big. You will still have to buy more resin. It is better (cheaper anyway) to invest extra work in ICM than to spend more then

50$ (kit included) to correct Hasegawa.

However since ICM is out of business, soon Hasegawa and Occidental could be only game in town.

Don't panic. I understand there is a new corporate entity that has the ICM molds and we will see these around for the forseeable future. I would guess that the 1/350 Hood that was promised is a dead dream, don't know about the proposed Bf-109s and Curtiss P-40s.

I have no hopes for Me-109. We are waiting for them for years now. Since they announced them ICM gave us Mig-3 Spitfire, and hot :-) P-51. Still no Me-109's. And I have to look at them on my Yak-9 box.
