ID British tank in Patton movie - help

In the newreel section around D-Day part of the movie there is film of the Brits driving thru a town in what looks like a tank with no turret. It looked too big to be a Universal carrier. The driver?, etc seemed to be sticking his head out of a round hatch.

Any ideas what it is?

The Kangaroo perhaps, but I do not remember seeing it in the movie.

Canadian Ram, de-turreted and made into a Kangaroo for carrying infantry.

Hi Craig, Don't have a copy of the movie but it Sounds like it could have been a "kangaroo" APC, Improvised by the Canadian II Corps in Normandy from M7 Priest spg(originally) and later from M4 Sherman and Ram tanks. Adopted by the British and US armies in WW2. Turrets and armament were removed from the hulls of the above vehicles.

HTH

Troff.
