Need Help Identifying A Vehicle

Oct 13, 2004 7 Replies

Its a military vehicle ( maybe south african ) used in the desert, It has a very angular body, and the suspension and wheels stick out and were very exposed, It was used for driving through mine fields, the theory being if it hit a mine, it would blow the wheel and suspension off, but not damage the hull.

it was very beautiful in an ugly kind of a way

any idea's ???

Thanks

There's a whole family of them but IIRC the base vehicle was called a Caspir.

They are mine-resistant and even an antitank mine can only blow off a wheel and axle, which are modular for quick replacement.

Nice to see a REAL post instead of all of the political diatribe!

yes but...who would the vehicle vote for?

I remember seeing that sometime ago. Didn't it have a nickname like hippo?

Yeah! But what about the driver's ear drums??? :-)

A home made anti mine vehicle was sometimes called a "Pookie" or some such spelling.

Thanks dude :-) and its spelt with a double "s" (Casspir)

do a google image search if you're into odd looking vehicles :-)

now all i have to do is find a kit ;-)

Thanks Again !

Sounds like an interesting project for a Mad Maxish post-apocalyptic theme.
