silvering

silvering has always been a problem which sometimes doesn.t show up until the decals are dry, no matter how much prep was taken. i find a mixture of 50% future to 50% alcohol, applied with a small brush around the edges, will remove most, if not all of it. what other methods are being used?

Prevention is usually better than cure, but your method is a good one. Pricking the decal with a needle in central areas away from edges helps too, as does slicing with a new blade along panel lines if possible. Applying suspect decals (like those overly matt ones for instance) to a local coat of Future/ Klear then pressing down with a smooth lint-free cloth warmed with hot water can also work well too.
