Squadron Specials

Anyone see that Squadron had 27 Subscriber specials to close out the year?

I took advantage of three of them.. How about the rest of you....

JLC must have been doing some closet cleaning. there were a heck of a lot of them and I took advantage of several, to my joy and my wife's chagrin.

Anyone else having problems with squadron mail order lately? In early November I placed an order.I usually get an order in 2 or 3 weeks. In early December I wrote to ask why it hadn't arrived, and some other questions. It took two days to get a reply on the other topics but nothing about the order.I waited a few days and wrote again. Then I was told it had been shipped on December 5th...the day after my first complaint, and a month after placing it,which was unusual. Then the package arrived, minus several items, worth a total of @21 dollars.yet I was only given credit for $17...I wrote to request full credit and and a refund check, which I was promised was on the way.Now it's January 2 and nothing...what's going on here? I have been a Squadron customer for almost 20 years and never had any problems before...is this becoming a common thing or did I just get lucky in a negative sense?

I just got an order in the other day and it took 8 days to get here. Usually it arrives in 7 but considering the time of year that wasn't bad. Unless more posts show up with problems I'm inclined to believe you got the exception to the rule.

I only had a slight problem one time a couple years ago. I call rather than e-mail them when I have a question (or the one time I had the problem). In the case of the one problem, it was resolved within 24 hrs. I've been pretty happy with SMO's service.

No problems as such but in the order I received the Pro-Modeler Arado-234 that looked like someone used it as a step stool. I thought they forced it into a too small box but nope the box was fine. I collect more than I build and like things to come in a decent box. The kit inside was okay and since I do intend to build it (as I do with all my 4000+ kits :-O) I am not going to bother to lodge a complaint. I figure after doing business with them for 20 years and always getting exceptional service and product they can slide on this one.

I placed an order in early Dec and got it before the holidays, probably in a little over a week, TX to Mass.

And here I sit, thinking I have a decent kit collection of about 550 1/48 kits.

Speaking of Squadron...they promised me a refund for the missing items on Dec.

Well, you're not totally alone. I never buy from them, and they haven't even had an opportunity to provide me with bad service. Nor am I refusing to buy from them out of concern for their bad reputation. I seem to sepnd plenty of mail order money without them, and I was turned off by their becoming sole US distributors for one kit I wanted, which then caused them to jack up the price phenominally. This is a sensitive issue for a Californian (stung by Texas energy company system gaming) entering into a transaction with a Texas company, made all the worse when I got the same kit in jig time from Hannants for 35% less, even taking shipping into account, and with an extra decal sheet thrown in gratis.

They're probably a great firm with which to do business. I'll probably never know.

After posting here,I got a further email, this time more polite, promising the refund later this week. I also got an email from the squadron webmaster(sorry, never heard his name before...but anyway)offering to help. So we shall see... Actually this is the first real problem I've ever had in all these years,so I am not going to be totally down on them as long as they fix it.
