Tamiya Epoxy Putty - problem?

Yep, that's how most epoxy putties work.

Sounds like an old batch -- unused epoxy putty tends to dry out and form a crust when it gets old, and a sealed package won't stop this. Storage near heat can also affect the putty.

You might be able to get some use out of it by cutting off the crust and using only the soft interior.

Epoxy putties generally get rock-hard in about 2-3 hours at room temperature. 10 days is much too long.

I have just opened a packet of this stuff - its in a blue box covered in Japanese - and no english instructions. The diagram seems to indicate that equal amounts of each Part A and Part B must be mixed together.

The trouble is that the white stick has a hard coating on it - a bit like the old PK chewing gum tablets. It doesn't soften when the 2 parts are mixed together leaving thin little hard pointy bits sticking out (always in the wrong spot).

Did I get an old or bad batch (it seemed sealed properly when I opened it) or is this the norm?

Also how long does it normally take to set - I have used it to afix the arms and legs onto the torso of a 1:35 resin figure and 10 days later it still hasn't hardened.

Any clues??
