Two Glue Questions

Probably Tamiya cement. Try to find Ambroid Pro-Weld, works just as well and stinks a little less.

CA/cyanoacrylate/super glue......I prefer Zap brand. For fine wrk I use the pink label, for joints with large gaps I use Zap-A-Gap (green label) with kicker and Plasti-Zap (orange label) for joints I'm going to sand. Always sand CA as soon as it sets!!!! I also use old plastic milk jug or soda caps to put a puddle of CA in and transfer it to the joint with

If you have a Hobby Lobby store nearby they sell Ambroid Pro-Weld. Also if you have a Hobby Shop nearby ask for Tenax 7-R. If nothing is nearby squadron.com can set you up. If all else fails look in the phone book for a plastic supply house and ask for Methylene Chloride. This is basically what Tenax and Ambroid are anyway and you can buy a pint for about the same cost as 6 0z. of the other stuff. The only drawback to that is is you should have smaller jars to put this into as it evaporates quickly when uncapped so the smaller bottle is wiser. Also you won't spill as much when you knock it over :-).

Those Star War kits were by AMT. They are ALL out of production but can be found cheaply enough on ebay. Fine Molds from Japan is doing Star Wars kits but they are in a much smaller 1/72 scale. They are however superb kits for fit and detail but cost about 25.00-30.00 dollars each. Go to HLJ.com and check em out. Good luck Doctor. Cheers, Max Bryant

I use the Ambroid ProWeld and swear by it. Any decent hobby store should have it in stock.

As far as the poor mating surfaces...you can try a number of things. Sanding the mating edges could true them up a little. If doing that does not help, I have used strips of plastic (from Evergreen) to fill the voids. Use the ProWeld to cement the pieces together and then clamp them. Once dried and sanded flush, any decent filler should fill in any remaining voids. You could use super glue for this.
