USMC LVT Colors?

Oct 07, 2005 2 Replies

Am thinking about doing the old Airfix Buffalo LVT for a USMC-theme IPMS club build. I don't know anything about WW II US armor colors. Were USMC LVTs the same O.D. as US Army armor? Anyone have a Testors, Humbrol, etc. paint recommendation?

Thanks in advance,

Martin

According to my Italeri instructionn sheet for that model, they were painted olive drab.Sorry I use acrylics and oils so i dont know the codes for the enamels.

This isn't really my subject but I remember reading years ago that the LVTs were commonly painted in three schemes. Some were plain OD as Arcusinoz says, some were in plain grey and others were in a multi-colour camouflage. Zaloga wrote an Osprey book on armour in the Pacific theatre so you might find what you want in that.
