Well since the Defense Authorization bill has been passed.......

Does anyone know if the issue of licensing fees being paid to defense contractors was passed also?

Scott:

I did get a note from the congressmen that the "anti" licensing amendment was attached to the bill and a thank you but not sure what the outcome was overall.

Don't know, but as a bonus, buried in this vote, you got a National ID law.

"papERS ....... papERS ........"

Apparently if you refuse to get/carry it, you cannot ......

1) get a driver's license 2) fly commercial airplanes 3) return from a wild and crazy night in Ciudad Juarez 3.1) sneak into Mexico to look for work 4) take flying lessons 4.1) buy a six pack of Coors 5) go to an ER to get stitches 5.1) enlist 6) vote

What next? ........

7) buy a model airplane? 8) enter an IPMS contest? 9) attend PTA meetings? 10) post to RMS?

"papERS ....... papERS ........"

Enjoy your future life. But heck, you codgers won't have to suffer this for very long. Only your grandchildren will live their entire lives under this cloud a totalitarianism. ....../V

Don't get your panties in a wad, Vess - they're not asking for a vial of your blood for future replicants, you know... Just a few transistors in your privates. Nothing a decent, law-abiding citizen of the USA should be worried about. You are decent, aren't you? Anyway, what's on your workbench? Big Brother wants to know... ;-)

They probably already know. Vess, in his irritatingly dramatic style has a point. This isn't the country we grew up in and as an American I don't like that.

Oops! Anyway, there's an ancient Revell '59 Skyliner on my bench currently. It's being done in a white/yellow two-tone scheme. No, the roof won't budge when I'm done.

Amen. I have to show my damned passport to go up to see Niagara Falls from the Canadian side or to go to the casino.

Had a friend who drove one back in the day. One sunny day, he got tapped while the roof was in the trunk and from that point on, his didn't either!

My dear Vessticles: Perhaps you should get yours ahead of time and avoid the rush later.

That's true. This isn't the America I grew up in. In that America, terrorists weren't sneaking into the country, flying airliners into our skyscrapers and governmental offices, or organizing terrorist cells for future attacks. Our borders weren't such a sieve and illegal aliens weren't climbing over each other for free education, health care, and welfare. If we still lived in THAT America, perhaps I would not be so excited about a national ID card either but, as you said, it's a different America now.

Frank, I'm gonna hit you with a fully loaded Revell U-boat or a resin battleship next Region II for feeding the Vesstroll.

This is oneI have to agree on too...no on a national ID card, yes on not giving illegalls drivers licenses and verification of citizenship for those whom qualify. That should be enough.

For me it's the same ole Tomcat...and a Bear J...and a Super Hornet...oh my...

On the basis of #10 alone, I support any effort that requires Vess to carry a national ID card.

There's two questions to ponder before pulling that trigger: Is it worth my life? (you're going to lose it; even if you don't get killed, you'll probably spend the next decade or so looking over your shoulder) If you decide the answer is yes, you can make a statement by bagging a bad guy, but in the end, this won't accomplish much. What you'd really need is a full scale shake up/extermination of the political establishment, which requires a full scale (civil)war with all the carnage associated therewith. The second question, then, is are you willing to inflict that upon the nation? If the answer is again yes, fire away..
