This must have been asked before, but why are Alps Printers unavailable in the US market? Would I be able to buy one in Europe and would they be available in consumer computer stores? Would there be a problem getting adapters to match US electric current?

Because ALPS no longer sells printers of any kind.
No, and no, not even when they were still in production.
No, that would be the easiest part.

The only place I know of that has any Alps NIB is a guy in Australia and the price is steep. Love to get a back for my 1000 but I'm not desperate enough yet. WRF
