Why Would a Dust Mask Have a "Best if Used By" date ?

bought a 3M 8200 sanding and fiberglass respirator 2 pk mask set. There is a sticker on the bag, saying best if used by November 2012. Does a dust mask expire?

And since resin dust from resin figures appears to look pretty large, any idea if a sanding/fiberglass mask would work on resin sanding?

thx - Craig

...if the masks contain an "activated charcoal" component to damp out volatile agents/fumes, that may "deactivate" over time? That's strictly a guess...

...probably more like cover-your-butt-legalese.

Hi there.

It's the dust you *CAN'T* see that does the damage. I recommend using a dust mask approved for resin.
