According to the What's New file for SolidWorks 2004 Pre Release 1
"A Microsoft Windows NT-based operating system allows a maximum of 4GB of RAM. By default, 2GB is allocated to the operating system and 2GB is allocated to the applications. You can now allocate 3GB of RAM to the SolidWorks application by decreasing the amount allocated to the operating system. The ability to increase the amount of RAM allocated to the SolidWorks application might benefit users with very large assemblies."
It then gives a couple of links, one seems to get stopped short, the other says you need a server os.
Anybody play with this yet and or know how to make the changes to try it out? Can you do this on any os or just the server versions?
And now the real question, has this helped in any way?
Thanks!
