I need to animate a label moving downward and being applied to a object with a spherical surface. Anyone have any idea's how to animate the label going from a flat state to a spherical shape as it's getting applied to the object?

With SW2004 you should be able to do this,..
For the label... search for,.. "To create custom textures:"
For the label moving,.. you could offset surface faces from the top (your flat surface area) to the bottom (your spherical area) and move a surface trim sketch (outlines the label with the texture) downward progressively?
