Any good AGP cards out there?

My old FX1100 is starting to cause trouble, the fan is acting up at least and our IT guys said to tell him what to get and he'd get me a new one.

Is the FX1100 the last of the "good" AGP cards?

My mobo doesn't support PCI-e, is there another good AGP card out there, or should I just get another FX1100?

Thanks

There are faster AGP card to be had, but I can't tell you what they are off the top of my head.

I also had trouble with the fan on my FX1100. I RMA'd it once. When the new card developed the same grinding noise, PNY refused to RMA it because they found nothing wrong with the first one. Grumble, grumble. An aftermarket cooler works better, and is more quiet than the stock cooler ever was. But don't pass up the opportunity for an upgrade. The 1100 is outdated now.

Hmmm. Newegg lists 4 AGP Quadro cards. One is an 1100, another is NVS (avoid, avoid, avoid) and ther others are at least $1200. The $1200 FX3000 will be faster, but for that cash, you could be looking at a more comprehensive and balanced system upgrade based on the FX1500 and another $700 in motherboard, CPU and memory.

Which way to go depends on your current system. If you're scheduled for system upgrade soon, it might make the most budget sense to just put a new fan on it.

That's what I thought. We're going to try to get a new fan for it, barring that it'll probably be another fx1100, it's hard to convince the bean counters to spend money that's not needed... the thing usually has to be dead to get replaced...

Thanks for the replies, wc

Looks quite similar, I'll have to pull my card again to see if there's a number. Thanks for the link

This is where we have gotten fans for those cards. Seem to be find, and for $6 or so, can't beat the price.
