There are faster AGP card to be had, but I can't tell you what they are off the top of my head.
I also had trouble with the fan on my FX1100. I RMA'd it once. When the new card developed the same grinding noise, PNY refused to RMA it because they found nothing wrong with the first one. Grumble, grumble. An aftermarket cooler works better, and is more quiet than the stock cooler ever was. But don't pass up the opportunity for an upgrade. The 1100 is outdated now.
Hmmm. Newegg lists 4 AGP Quadro cards. One is an 1100, another is NVS (avoid, avoid, avoid) and ther others are at least $1200. The $1200 FX3000 will be faster, but for that cash, you could be looking at a more comprehensive and balanced system upgrade based on the FX1500 and another $700 in motherboard, CPU and memory.
Which way to go depends on your current system. If you're scheduled for system upgrade soon, it might make the most budget sense to just put a new fan on it.
