Block Non-SolidWorks Content

This is a message for the admin of this newsgroup. Is there a way to start blocking users that do not post SolidWorks related information? It just seems like there is a steady flow of what I like to call "SPAM" that is coming in from the same couple users that have nothing to do with SolidWorks at all.

You should "don thy flame suit" before disturbing the infamous "black dragon". None the less, it'll be interesting to see what kind of response you get. :D

Basically it's up to you to block anything you don't wish to have. If your application does not support your desires, get an application which does.

We have no admin. All we can do is flame offenders or ignore them.

Dale, The guy thinks this is a Google group. BTW, this group is pretty much on topic as Usenet goes. What there is of OT posts is easily ignored. It is for adults anyway....

Let us know when you become one (adult) and we will stop ignoring you.

By the way how is puberty going?

It is on Google isn't it. Just because some people do not use Google to access it.

Unless you have a mouse in your pocket junior there is no "us".

It's been a while but as I recall it went better than yours apparently is.

I see, English is your second language...

Class dismissed.

What VAR do you work for? Or does you handle mean something else?

I'm wondering if your posts are one reason not to use Google to do newsgroups... It seems your posts have a habit of ending up as responses to the wrong postings!! Unless I'm reading it wrong...

But back to the original question, I'd guess that even if there was someone to block irritating posters, the most annoying sources of posts seem to have nothing else useful going on in their lives and would probably just change email addresses to re-post, making their lives seem that much more meaningful.

$.02...

Oh and maybe you should stick with the machining newsgroup, since you have had so many useful SolidWorks posts here.

That is all I have to say. Now back to work.

I decided to delete all messages. I was just asking a question, did not want to get into pissing match. See John R. Carroll, this is the mature response.

Ah. Thanks for the sleuthing. Now I know where "adults" work.

Since he is a great "example" (cough) of "model behavior" (cough), has anybody thought about letting his employer know about his antics?

You're welcome.

Get over yourself, f****it.

Attempting to meddle with a persons ability to earn a living (for all you know the guy has a family to feed and a hefty mortgage payment) by contacting his employer over something said on a stinkin' Usenet newsgroup would be utterly contemptible.

Matt Lombard knows what I'm talking about, he did exactly that to me a number years ago. Fortunately my employer already knew he's a self absorbed dimwit and got a few laughs out of it instead.

His next victim may not be so lucky though.

........

You're kidding, right?

Anyone who would do anything to put their familys food and a hefty mortgage payment at risk by posting on a "stinkin' Usenet newsgroup" has got to be far more contemptible! Employers have a right to request that their employees act in a professional manner. Just because your employer didn't care doesn't mean that some wouldn't like to know how their companys name is being tarnished.

But funniest of all is that you're the one who pointed out which company!! Look up hypocrite in the dictionary some time.

Guess I need to get over myself too.

What? You some kind of moron? The individual sells used cars for a living. At least he / she doesn't try to hide it like most of them.

Impressive Googling to find an old employer! Brings back some memories...!

I've never tried to hide who I am, what I do, etc. I do wonder myself why I occasionally bother to express opinions on this NG, though, particularly among the hide-behind-my-fake-name crowd that is able to impress themselves by taking anonymous potshots. But thanks for figuring out that I'm entitled to an opinion, even one that differs from yours.

One of the reasons I post anonymously is to make it difficult for rotten scumbags like Matt Lombard to take "potshots" at me by meddling in my personal affairs.

I figured some simpleton would come along and say something like this. So, tell us (tinu), were you born that stupid, or did your mama make you take lessons later in life?

Mr. Dragon sir, Your well thought-out, organized, and detailed point-by-point response to my above accusation of hypocricy, combined with Cliffs keen grasp of basic search engine use, have forced me to to realize the error in my ways. It has made it obvous that I have obviously been unreasonable; that you have clearly been right the whole time. I apologize and hope we can all get on with our lives. Have a fabulous 2006, and hopefully many more beyond.
